British ski jumper Michael ‘Eddie’ Edwards emerged as champion after he represented Britain at the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.

He soared into the hearts of Olympic fans across the world but not by winning medals. Instead, ‘Eddie the Eagle‘ didn’t even come close, in fact he finished last; but he did win fame and love from the public with his lovable goofy look and sheer determination.
Taron Egerton plays the title role of Eddie himself; looking unrecognisable from the last time you saw him in Kingsman: The Secret Service. Egerton transformed himself into the world’s most un-athletic athletes, with Eddie’s thick glasses and red hair. Hugh Jackman stars alongside Egerton as his mentor; the man who agrees to train Eddie to help achieve his lifelong dream of competing in the Olympics. This relationship was made for the movie and Jackman came on board because he remembers loving Eddie’s story when he was growing up himself.

The film retells the inspirational story of the man who dedicated his life to achieving one goal. Although he was never athletically gifted, he had diligent spirit to help him prevail and compete in the Olympics; even in the most unlikely of circumstances…This film gives you a lovely warm glow all over, I smiled ear to ear when I watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Perfect film to watch as a family and Taron Egerton’s performance will totally charm you, such a great story to tell and Eddie deserves all the extra love he will get from this film’s release. It was an amazing achievement and what an incredible man to do this on his own and in his Dad’s van.
