Take a step back in time to the 1940/1950s of Los Angeles, and into the dark intrigue of the mafia with the new crime drama Gangster Squad. If you loved the dynamic between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in Crazy Stupid Love, then you are sure to love the tension between them in this new film as Emma plays the sultry Grace Faraday.
The film follows the fight between a select few of the LAPD in their fight to rid LA’s streets of Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn). Mickey runs the show in LA, reaping the ill-gotten gains from drugs, guns, and prostitutes. Injustice abounds, as Mickey Cohen is not only protected by his own goons, but dirty police officers and politicians. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest cop, but the secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and the dapper Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling) are up for the job, and hard bent on tearing Cohen’s world apart.
