Sunset Song is the story of the daughter of a Scottish farmer coming of age in the early 1900’s.
The new film stars Bolton supermodel Agyness Deyn and was shortlisted for the BFI London Film Festival competition and will have it’s cinematic release in December this year. The adaptation of Lewis Grassic Gibbon’s classic features Deyn as the lead role, as young 14-year old farmer’s daughter, Chris.
Chris aspires to become a teacher and of a life beyond her homeland; but when her mother commits suicide Chris’ life spirals. Bullied her her abusive and violent father she leaves for abroad with her brother and forced into a life of household duties. Her glimmer of hope appears in her life when she meets local farmer Ewan (Kevin Guthrie) whom she falls in love with.
The outbreak of World War I devistates both of their worlds and appears to cause a rift in their realtionship…
