UNIQLO Announces Western Expansion

April 10, 2012

UNIQLO Store

UNIQLO has its eyes set to the west, with plans to open its first US store outside of New York.

The Japanese clothing chain, already a booming fashion staple in the UK, has just three stores in the United States, all based in the Big Apple. This is soon to change though as UNIQLO plans to open a standalone flagship store in San Francisco come autumn.

The fast-fashion chain plans to open 200 stores in the United States, with a US sales goal of $10 billion by 2020. To man the store, members of the New York team will be transferred to the San Francisco area. The expansion comes with the growing demand for fast fashion and the success of chains like Zara and H&M.
