We love a designer label and an expensive looking outfit but we can’t always splash the cash on designer price tags. After all, renowned brands such as Burberry have destroyed over £90m of their own unsold stock to prevent cheap reselling or theft. It’s not easy to keep up with all the latest must-have items, but you can look at using some useful life-hacks to make sure you look like you are wearing the best quality fabrics and in the most stylish way.
Here are some tips on how you can make your own wardrobe look more luxe without spending a fortune.
Look inside
Lining is a sure-fire way of detecting which clothes are expensive and which are on the cheaper end of the spectrum, same as good buttons. Think of lining as peaking behind the scenes; expensive clothes are usually well lined and hang better on your body. Check the inside of any clothes you want to buy to see if the sleeves are lined and if the seams are straight, they will look better on. Sometimes replacing a cheap set of buttons with better ones can totally transform a jacket / coat or cardigan too.
Quality Materials
Some materials just exude a look of luxury. For example, cotton and linen perfectly sell that soft and summery feel and look better, crumpled linen is totally acceptable in the summer. Tweed is also another guaranteed material to make your wardrobe appear more expensive, this fabric always looks more expensive, traditional, old fashioned and stylish. Think Chanel suits and Jackie O timeless elegance.

Colour Blocking
Bolder, richer looking colours will always carry that air of quality, whereas washed out or faded colours may do the exact opposite. Think about what colours work better on you too, wearing colours that suit you and bring out your best features rather than washing you out are instantly going to lift your mood and how you wear your outfit. Look after your clothes too, make sure you hang them up properly, store woollens sealed with lavender to make sure those moths don’t eat your best cashmere jumper.
Quality Accessories

Accessories
Of course, it’s not always just about the clothes themselves. There’s more to a great outfit, and accessories do a great amount of work in completing any look you’re going for. A great pair of shoes or handbag can upgrade any basic outfit. For example, a quality purse from Radley might just make your handbag look and feel more organised and sophisticated; a new purse is always a nice treat to yourself.
