What is it about an airport that makes me feel I have to shop? First of all, I couldn’t go anywhere in Heathrow without buying shoes, they seem to always be on sale.
And then I graduated to eyewear, how effortless it was to slip sunglasses into the carry-on. But this ended up a very expensive habit, those brands are called luxury brands for a reason.

Then I graduated on to make-up, they often have trials of must-have mascaras. Addictive.
So there I was in terminal three where aside the Estee Lauder counter was a capsule collection of VB. Of course, I love the little eyeshadow package, it’s like miniature 1950’s luggage with its dark brown, fake sharkskin look. I loved the look of her cheek creme, it looked such a glowy blush. I loved the smoky eye palette with its light grey, dark grey and dark pink but I was overwhelmed by the deepest night coloured shadow called Eye Ink.
Its official title is Black Myrrh. Of course, it is all different kinds of black, and grey and purple and even green and then the lady at the counter introduced me to a whipped creme affair called Eye Foil in Blonde Gold.
So it’s blonde with a hint of gold and what it does, it works in tandem with the Eye Ink, it makes it sparkle, it makes it shimmer, it makes it multi-colored glitter but glitter not like the movie, not like the 1970’s, glitter not like a teenaged girl straight out of Barbie’s glitter but a subtle bewitching of dark and gold and blonde and gray. The kind of sparkle that picks up the multi-coloured flecks of the eye itself. This is a colour that is so flattering that you want to wear it all day, not just to the party. In fact, it is the party.
