Vivienne Westwood is the latest designer to combine both her women’s and men’s collections under one label at Men’s London Fashion Week.
Last year, we noticed more and more women appearing in shows at the Men’s Milan fashion Week and vice versa. Vivienne Westwood is the latest to join in the footsteps of designers including Gucci, Rag and Bone and Public School, who have chosen to present combined men’s and women’s shows.
Vivienne Westwood is no stranger to gender-close designs, her Spring ’17 men’s collection featured women in oversized suits, while the men in Fall ’16 show wore lamé gowns.
The blurred line between Westwood’s garments are no more, and the Autumn/Winter 17-18 Ready-to-Wear collections will be presented under one convenient single brand umbrella of one recognisable label. And it totally makes sense.
The womenswear line, formally known as the Red Label, and the menswear line, formally known as the MAN Label, will now sit together as the brand’s mainline women’s and men’s offering under one label: Vivienne Westwood.
“The decision follows the company’s wider strategy to simplify its line portfolio by unifying its mainline collections under a single brand umbrella,” said the company in a statement. “The decision to present the collection in early January is part of a shift that aims to present the collections ahead of the sales period giving buyers a clear vision for the season prior to the appointments in the showroom.”
We can’t wait to see what’s in store.
