Publisher extraordinaire Jefferson Hack is a certified expert with experience in journalism, film, photography, television and digital media. He is one of the best at understanding the ever-changing platform of journalism and media, and this knowledge is shared in his new revolutionary book. Titled We Can’t Do This Alone: Jefferson Hack The System features a mix of old and new material, and focuses on both inspiring cultural figures as well as delves into forward thinking media and art.
At the age of 19, Hack founded Dazed & Confused magazine, he has since also launched AnOther Magazine and Another Man. His new book features snippets from Tilda Swinton, Rankin, Björk, Douglas Coupland, and more with the purpose of defining the purpose of alternative media in the 21st century, and sets to inspire others about how there is a bright future ahead for radical publishing.
The book takes a look back at all the past covers and iconic issues of Dazed, from features published many years ago like David Bowie and Gwyneth Paltrow, to current updates like Kendall Jenner and Beyonce, as well as plenty of material outside the mainstream news.
The book features artwork from Hack and Ferdinando Verderi, the art director and designer of the book. It is also interspersed with 25 inspirational quotes from over the course of Hack’s career.
We Can’t Do This Alone encompases everything Hack is- radical, nuance, sophisticated, creative, and thought-provoking. Showing just how individual creators can be, the book is limited edition with only 5,000 copies, each copy is numbered and features a completely unique cover.
