The change in season can cause complete havoc with your makeup, so you know what that means – necessary changes are in order!
As well as feeling like wind is literally blowing off your perfectly applied face – cold or hot, damp or wet conditions can be the absolute worst for keeping your makeup looking fresh. Hair blowing onto your lipstick, the dampness or wet literally melting off your foundation, wind making your eyes water, red noses, scarves and turtlenecks smeared with foundation – oh, it can be mayhem.
So what can you do to transform your makeup so that it is fully prepared to withstand the troublesome weather?
Avoid Dry Skin
Although we were all blessed with different skin types, your skin will still vary within the year and sometimes the change in weather or putting on the air con can be incredibly drying, making makeup look flaky and uneven. Perhaps opt for a slightly more nourishing moisturiser for the winter months and a lighter more hydrating moisturiser during the warmer ones. Our skin changes from time to time due to our surroundings, so absolutely worth catering for that.

Reduce redness
If the colder weather leaves you with an inflamed, red face, camouflage it with a green-tinted colour corrector. If you’ve ever spotted those on the shelves and wondered what they’re used for – now you know. If you get redness all over, a green tinted primer would go the job – if you get redness in more confined areas (like your nose) a colour corrector stick or concealer would be ideal.

Look after your lips

We love the new Blistex Cherry Intensive Moisturiser so we recommend you smother this on those chapped lips to keep them tip-top and super smooth and hydrated whatever the weather. It’s so yummy and a pleasure to pop on whenever you just need a little rescue! Blistex are a brand I can rely on to really do the job, and make my lips smooth and soft.
Transfer-free Foundation
Stop your clothes getting orangey marks all over them and pick a foundation that’s long-lasting and transfer-free.

Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Matte Foundation gives a soft, shine-free finish with an added SPF 20 to keep your skin protected all year round. I have been using this foundation and find that it blends to give a really flawless base. It is ideal for all skin types but in particular for normal to oily skin, gives a long lasting coverage and is rub-resistant – and that’s the best bit!
Tear-proof your eye makeup
Smudge-proof/waterproof formulas are your best friend.. Here are a couple of our favourite products that will save you from those smudged eyes. Just be sure to remove properly at the end of the day with an oil-based makeup remover for less rubbing on your eyes. Oil will break down any waterproof makeup instantly.

What’s more – Haute & Naughty is a two-in-one mascara with a duo wiper system. Go from defined day lashes to voluminous night lashes instantly.
Cheek and Lip stains
Stains are such a good way of ensuring your lip or cheek colour will stay intact – as they sink into the skin and by staining you can be sure they wont budge through your day.
