With the Olympic Games over, our triumphant athletes returned home, proud and holding their victory medals in one hand.
Boarding their BA2016 flight from Rio to London Heathrow, Team GB were on their way to bring home the gold. Staring off the celebration early, with their victory medal in hand, the athletes were all smiles for the triumphant selfie.
Swimmer Adam Peaty and men’s eight rower William Satch could not resist taking a cockpit snap prior to take off.
The men’s eight rowers representing the UK could not have been happier returning home with the gold.
Members of Team GB women’s hockey also wanted to have their moment in the cockpit, joining the pilot for a quick snap before departure.
Team GB were welcomed at Heathrow airport on Tuesday. The plane flaunted it’s golden nose as it parked up in the terminal, welcomed by celebratory cheers.
Eager to get off the plane, Max Whitlock, winner of two golden medals and Britain’s first gymnastics gold, joined by Nicola Adams who defended her Olympic title.
The proud athletes also took a group snap in front of their plane at Heathrow, showing off their winners prize hanging around their neck.
