Wimbledon is finally here, grab your friends and be prepared to fill up on strawberries and cream – or for a matter of fact – take your pick from some Wimbledon inspired menus in London. The most prestigious tennis tournament is happening just a few miles away. After deciding where in London is the best to watch the matches it’s very important to understand which players are in the running of taking the crown.
So here is the 411…
Men
Novak Djokovic is on fire and probably will not be cooling off soon. The newest French Open champion is looking to continue his winning streak. Not only his he defending his own 2015 title but is also looking to pull of a tournament grand slam and make history.
Andy Murray has been playing exceptionally and is looking to work his way to the top. The tennis star has been taking tournaments by storm. He has reached the Australian Open final and appeared this year in his first ever French Open final. Even though Murray hasn’t won the tournament in two years he’s looking to take it all.
A new face to look out for this tournament is 21 year old Nick Kyrgios. The young professional has already reached two slam quarter finals. The media has been swarming Kyrgios – and his sudden outbursts are keeping his fans on their toes. His overall 18th ranking proves he is incredibly competitive, but will too much competition crush his chances of making it to the finals?
Women
Serena Williams intensity and effectiveness on the court has allowed her to become a household name. This Williams sister has been able to make a new for herself and is looking to become a back to back Wimbledon champion. Williams is anxious to step onto the court and remain on top of this tournament.
The 2015 Wimbledon runner up Garbine Muguruza is strictly focused taking the crown for herself. Williams and Muguruza have been head to head for multiple tournaments. Maguruza is looking to test herself this tournament and is hoping this title doesn’t slip through her fingers.
The name Belinda Bencic is one to keep in mind. The superstar is ranked 8th overall in the world and appeared in her first Wimbledon Tournament two years ago where she placed third. Bencic’s powerful hits could lead her straight into the finals. Oh – and did I mention, she’s only 19!
