British fashion designer Giles Deacon has collaborated with British sofa manufacturer and retailer DFS to launch a limited edition sofa named the ‘Lipgloss.’ Giles has also teamed up with DFS to launch the DFS Design Foundation, an innovative new student bursary scheme designed to promote and nurture young British design talent.
To celebrate the partnership, DFS and Giles Deacon have given us a bundle of exclusive tickets to London Fashion Weekend. One lucky winner will receive a pair of VIP tickets to Giles’ show on Friday 20th September which include entry to a champagne reception and a chance to meet Giles himself. 5 further winners will receive a pair of general entry tickets to London Fashion Weekend on the afternoon of Friday 20th September
Giles has taken his talent in playful design and his eye for statement prints to create the Lipgloss, a bold sofa synonymous with his renowned catwalk pieces. From mid-September, the limited edition sofa and footstool will be available to buy online at DFS.co.uk and in DFS’ flagship London store on Tottenham Court Road. Handmade in the UK, each sofa will come with a numbered certificate of authenticity personally signed by Giles Deacon.
The DFS Design Foundation, which opens for entries in mid October, gives young designers the opportunity to test their talents on a real life commercial brief. The programme is specifically targeted at final-year undergraduate design students looking to kick-start their design careers. The overall winner will then benefit from a tailored package of support worth in excess of £20,000 which will include: a cash bursary as well as a paid three month internship, which will include the opportunity to work side by side with Giles at his London studio, as well as the opportunity to spend time working with DFS’ expert in-house design team.
