Key pieces for your work wardrobe
If you’re looking to spruce up your work wardrobe, and your office has a formal dress code there’s a few key pieces you’ll want to focus on. While you’ll obviously want to save as much money as possible, what you need to remember is that the more you spend, the longer the clothing will last. So, it’s more of a long-term investment, plus you’ll feel better wearer nicer fabrics and good cuts for your body shape.

A trench coat
One of the basics you’re going to need is a good quality coat to get you to and from work in style. There’s a lot of different styles available on the market, but the timeless classic that you will wear over again is the trench coat. Getting it in camel means it will complement all colours you have on under it and go with any statement bag you might want to accessorise with.
They may have originally been designed to be worn in trenches during the war, but these days trench coats come in a huge range of different styles. They’re classy, chic and sure to help you look ultra-stylish on your work journey, because you never know who you might see on the platform.
Wide leg trousers
Black work trousers are a staple for any day, but you could try a different style and these wide leg ones are more flattering than you think. They can be worn with a heel or a designer pair of sneakers for when you feet can’t take any more pain for the journey to and from the office. If you love your shoes they are an excellent way to show off your collection of footwear too, opt for cropped black trousers with a wide leg. Aim for a pair which sit high up on your waist, falling to mid-ankle length and wear with a fitted crop jacket over a white t-shirt with a statement necklace.
The LBD, little black dress
Every woman needs at least one black dress in their wardrobe, most of us have at least 10, they are just so easy and useful for so many occasions. Firstly, it’s a smart outfit you can wear if you have a day of meetings but you can also go straight out for dinner or drinks and feel dressed up for the night with some extra attention to hair and make up. Dry shampoo is always useful for some instant volume, add some extra blush and highlighter to make skin glow and a red lipstick is going to look hot with a black dress at all times.
Smart shirts
For everyday wear, you’re going to want to invest in a number of smart shirts. A crisp white shirt always looks smart and it is always worth going for the best quality so it holds its shape and lasts a while if you are wearing it a lot. You may even want to consider buying tailored shirts to guarantee a perfect fit, or get yourself a tailor and have yours taken in, it’s always useful to have a good tailor to make your clothes look better on you.
