I’ve always been a fan of a milk white nail polish. For me white was the new red. I find it classic as I wear a lot of black and a lot of silver, a nice shiny white always feels good and makes you feel dressed. You know how when you experiment with random colours of polish and you feel that looks good with what you’re wearing today and the next day whatever you wear looks just wrong because nothing matches the polish, or rather the polish matches nothing. It makes me feel uncomfortable and because I’m always late and rushing I stay feeling uncomfortable rather than take the 10 minutes to take the polish off. White is classic and works with everything. Good for spring and for summer and for winter queens.
White is YSL’s new pioneer colour in their La Laque Couture range. It’s a new generation of nail lacquer. It looks lovely in its little classic YSL bottle with its classic gold top. It’s cute and fits in smallest of handbags. Available at all times for touch ups. Not that you need that many because the beauty of this polish is it goes on so opaque, so shiny and so strong. You don’t notice a chip until you’ve had it on at least 10 days.
It feels like it’s very strong but at the same time it’s elegant and striking. It glides on to the nail so that even idiots like me who are resolutely hopeless at painting their own nails can manage it. The longwear formula is enriched with rose oil which also acts as a moisturiser and strengthens and helps protect nails from chipping and cracking while they’re in full polish. It’s not one of those streaky ones and it dries quite fast, also essential to the home manicurist. And it’s got a wide-ish brush so it means you can get it on quickly and easily. As we all know, there are at least fifty shades of white. This white is a gleaming white. It’s not a creamy white, more of a milk white. It makes your skin tone look tan even if it’s not.
It’s £19 but for a manicure that anyone can do themselves it’s worth every penny.
