The Oscar’s Red Carpet is always something to watch. Whether you want to see what, or who, the stars are wearing, see the newest makeup trends you should be adding into your routine, or actually see who won, there is a reason for everyone to tune in.
When it came to the dresses, metallics were in. Stars like Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lawrence, and Gal Gadot all rocked that gorgeous look on the red carpet last night.
Metallic dresses weren’t the only trend, several stars like Margot Robbie and Kate Upton wore stunning white gowns while Jennifer Garner and Allison Janney brought colour to the red carpet in bright blue and a bold red.
When it came to makeup, stars were mostly natural with a few bold lips here and there (Like Gal’s Revlon Superlustrous Bombshell Red.) Emma Stone wore NARS Precision Lipliner in Lerins and their velvet matter pencil in Let’s Go Crazy topped off with NARS Angelika lipgloss.
Stars like Emma Roberts, Sofia Vergara, Kelly Rohrbach, Kate Upton, and Zendaya wore Charlotte Tilbury cosmetics for the big night. The brand’s new Hollywood Flawless Filter gave each of the stars a great glow to work as the base for the remainder of their makeup for the night.
For Emma’s look, Charlotte Tilbury herself cleansed her skin with her multi-miracle balm, applied the instant magic facial dry sheet, and moisturised with the Magic Cream to hydrate the skin.
After this, she used the Unisex Healthy Glow and Wonderglow to make the skin glow. She perfected the base with the Light Wonder Foundation (Shades 4 and 7) all over the face and Hollywood Flawless Filter on the cheekbones and high points of the face. She finished off the complexion with Airbrush Flawless Finish (Shade 2) and Hollywood Beauty Light Wand.
When it came to the eyes, Charlotte lined Emma’s top and bottom lash lines with The Classic Eyeliner Pencil in Audrey. She primed the eyes with Eyes to Mesmerise in Bette and a rose gold eye pigment that will be launching soon. To make the eyes wider, she added in Eyes To Mesmerise in Jean along the corners of the eyes and up to the brow. She then added Bars of Gold to make the look really pop. To finish off the eyes, they used Full Fat Lashes in Glossy Black along with the Life Changing Lashes curler.
She fixed up Emma’s brows using Brow Lift in Rita and Legendary Brows in Clear.
To finish off the look, Charlotte lined the lips using Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk and then added on a blend of K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in The Duchess and Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk
If you’re aiming for a look more like Zendaya’s, the key makeup products in the look include the Hollywood Flawless Filter, Unisex Healthy Glow, Hollywood Beauty Light Wand, Hollywood Contour Wand and Lip Lustre in Hall of Fame.
Hairstylist Neil Moodie offers advice for how you can get Zendaya’s slicked-back updo. He emphasizes how important giving your hair texture is. You won’t want it too clean or it won’t stay pulled back. By backcombing, spraying hairspray in the brush as you run it through the hair, and using pins and grips, the hair will be better able to hold onto itself. When it comes to the pesky pins and grips, he says,”Bend the end of the pin over and create a little hook so if it starts to slip out the hook will grip to the hair.” Moodie also suggests using a matte texture spray on the hair’s roots.
