The 2018 Awards Season has wrapped up after last night’s Oscar Awards ceremony.
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the night with class as he made pointed remarks about the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements. However, many called the Academy to appoint a new nonwhite male to take over the role for next year’s ceremony. While the movement didn’t show up in black or wearing flowers on lapels, Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino gave a wonderful interview on the red carpet discussing what Hollywood is doing to become safer and informing others of what they can do to help those around them who have experienced sexual assaults as well.
When it came to awards, the Shape of Water was the big winner for the night as it brought home Best Picture, Best Directing, Best Music, and Best Production Design.
Gary Oldman brought home Best Leading Actor for his role in Darkest Hour.
Frances McDormand won the Best Actress in a leading role, and she brought the house to their feet as she called all the nominated women to stand and challenged the men in the room to support them in their various roles and projects. Sam Rockwell won best supporting actor for his role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri as well.
Allison Janney once again was awarded for her performance as a supporting actress in I, Tonya.
Coco, Pixar’s animated film about the Day of the Dead, was another big winner as it won for the Animated Feature category and Best Original Song for Remember Me. The Best Original Song award completed Robert Lopez’s second EGOT making him the only person to win 2 Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tonys. Only 12 people have even completed the EGOT once.
