I used to write a column on the world’s most luxurious treats – the most expensive, bespoke perfumes, handmade hand stitched shoes from rare reptile skins.
This magazine was read only by billionaires and one of the most popular reviews I ever did was the Gold Facial.
It was basically a serum with tiny flakes of the precious metal and while this was on your face you drank vodka with gold leaf in it.
That went down incredibly well with women who had nothing better to do than to have facials and drink vodka. And imagine they are Cleopatra .
It is said she used to sleep every night in a handmade gold mask on her face . It was the ancient Egyptian belief that gold rejuvenated skin. Egyptians were right about who many things; they were way ahead of their time.
Centuries later gold in facials have appeared again.
Cameron Diaz – who I ran into the other day at a U2 concert – always used to have terrible skin, really spotty, but she is now looking fresh and glowing. People are putting it down being super loved up with her rocker husband Benji Madden but it could be that she is now using gold face products.
Nicole Kidman is also a fan of gold in beauty treatments as it works well with pale and sensitive skin.

Ahead of this trend comes the gold face mask. It is called Deep Facial Mask from D`OR24, available from luxury retailer www.cocosa.co.uk at a crazy discount of over 95%. Basically you can get this mask for around £45, reduced from around £3000.
Before Cocosa launched them they were tested and results were fabulous.
The face mask in gold works because it is an anti-inflammatory. The masks also increase circulation and provide anti-oxidants so the skin glows.
It is also combined with active anti-wrinkle ingredients which significantly reduces wrinkles. However, the gold mask is not just about reducing wrinkles, it is about rejuvenating skin, giving a kind of juicy radiance that helps to prevent wrinkles happening in the first place. Blood flow increases to skin tissue thus speeding up cellular processes and activating regeneration.
This is how it works on diminishing lines. Gold also can help restore elasticity, and slow down collagen depletion and help to prevent sagging skin.
The gold face masks will go on sale June 14th and are expected to entice thousands of buyers.
The gold face package includes 12 masks, which should remain on the face for 10-20 minutes on clean skin.
You use one per month for a year. After each mask your skin looks younger and more glowing.
Gold has been tried and tested for a few years now and the reason that there is no gold in everyone’s moisturiser is because the cost is prohibitive.
At 95% off, everyone can afford gorgeous skin. It is the bargain of the century.
