FAVOURITE FIVE: NATURAL LOOK PALETTES

September 19, 2014

There’s a lot to be said for trying out the latest trends, the latest take on a cat-eye flick, overdone or underdone mascara, a bright pop of colour dotted in the corner of the eye. But sometimes it’s gorgeously comforting to keep it neutral. With that in mind, here’s our rundown of our favourite natural look eye palettes hitting the shelves this season.

First up? The brand new Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Eyeshadow Palette (£22.00). It is a slightly warmer take on the original dinky snap-shut palette, and just as wonderfully wearable. The first edition has been holding its place firmly in my makeup bag for the past year or so, and I wear it in a different way every day, so when the new version raised its pretty little head, I was first in line to check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

It might have been to eye-catching Kate Upton campaign that first turned my head in the direction of the new Bobbi Brown Smokey Nudes Eye Palette (£48.00), but once I’d clocked its full potential I couldn’t get it off my mind. Mattes mingle with metallics, rosy shades with tawny. It’s everything you could want if you’ve got that feminine inclination towards pink-toned shades.

If the smokey-safari look is more your thing, take a look at the YSL Couture Collector Palette (£42.00). It’s pretty easy on the eyes (no pun intended!) with its leather casing, drawing on biker girl chic for its outward look. Inside earthy tones glimmer with crystal-like clarity, and boast strong pigmentation. It effects a more grown-up, street-wise look that doesn’t shy away from glamour.

The Clinique Shadow Quad in Teddy Bear (£28.00) is yet another example of how well the renowned brand do nudity. Make up wise only you understand! And who can resist shades collectively dubbed Teddy Bear?!

No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Trio in Golden (£9.50).

Smokey tones are in no way a necessity when it comes to natural look palettes, and No7 proves it with the No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow Trio in Golden (£9.50). With a just-back-from-holiday beach glow still gleaming, the pearlescent shades are the perfect way to highlight summer-warmed skin without looking to ‘done’.
