Venice Film Festival kick-started on a high note with Everest, the movie based on an incredible true story of the real events of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster.
Everest tells the story of the ill-fated climbers from two different expeditions and their fight for survival during a fierce snowstorm on Mount Everest.
Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays Scott Fischer, the leader of one of the expeditions that was attempting to summit on May 10, 1996, said “a tremendous responsibility when trying to recreate something that actually happened. I wasn’t fully aware when I took on the role how the story had impacted Scott’s children who contacted me directly and were worried about how their father would be portrayed.”
Stars Keira Knightley and Jason Clarke, who plays the other expedition leader in this dramatic documentary.
