Global Lust: Ahilya Feathers

July 9, 2012

Scarf by Ahilya

By Chrissy Iley

Ever since I had a healing from a Native American shaman and he used 300-year-old feathers as symbols of power and strength I have developed a feather fetish, and apparently I am on trend. Feather jewellery, feathers dipped in silver, feather pendants, feather charms, are everywhere.

I also have a scarf fetish. There’s nothing like the perfect scarf to complete an outfit, to add a specific mix of style and cosiness. I’ve lost all my umbrellas so this is definitely scarf weather and now I have the perfect scarf by Ahilya who commissioned Central St. Martin’s graduate Nora Wong to hand draw the wonderful feather print using dip pen and Indian ink. The result is a must have accessory.

It’s a light, fine grey wool. It goes with everything. It lifts, it blends, it wraps. It’s great for planes, good as a sun shield and a cold shield alike. Addicted to it.

It will be available on the Ahilya website from September, until then we will lust over it.
