British television presenter, model and fashionista, Alexa Chung, will add ‘creative director’ to her list of titles as she prepares to launch her own fashion label, ALEXACHUNG, in May 2017.
Before embarking on her own brand, Chung has collaborated with brands such as AG Jeans, Madewell, Marks & Spencer, Superga and Eyeko. Her collaborations with AG Jeans and Madewell quickly sold out after their debut. Chung has also worked as a contributing editor for British Vogue for 7 years. Now, Chung will look after a team of six designers creating a range of day and night wear, jeans, shoes and jewellery.
After years of success in the fashion world, why are we just now seeing a label from the seasoned fashion queen? Chung told BoF she now feels that she is finally prepared and responsible enough to venture out on her own, and she is eager to release her collection. Chung stated, “…I feel like I need to get it up and running whilst I’m still young enough to have the energy and still be in touch with pop culture enough to make something that is actually relevant to the audience today.”
The collection will be available in select retailers such as Selfridges, Galeries Lafayette, Matchesfashion.com, MyTheresa and SSENSE.
