On the red-carpet before the world’s media the celebrities may have been a picture of pretty-punk perfection but according to WWD, behind the doors of Monday evening’s Costume Institute Punk: Chaos to Couture gala there was an altogether more rebellious air . . The ladies room “emanated smoke”, there was table hopping a-plenty – apparently Taylor Swift made a beeline for Lena Dunham (that would have been our choice too!) and Chris Martin making a bee-line for, well, Bey and a handful of outfit changes, including notable Amanda Seyfried who slipped into something a little more comfortable, shunning trousers for a Givenchy over-sized t-shirt. Punk behaviour indeed.
The official after dinner party was held at the Temple of Dendur where, for the sweet-toothed skull cookies and edible ciggie cupcakes were on offer. Florence Welch, of Florence and the Machine, before introducing Blondie to the stage, recommended the vodka Jell-O shots stating “they are amazing”.
The night, which from these pics looked like a hell of a lot of fun, raised $11.3 million for the Costume Institute. We just hope that no damage was caused by the many spikes, studs and heavy metal on show. .
