Following in the footsteps of Santigold, Spank Rock and Die Antwood, rapper Azaelia Banks, has been named as the new face of Alexander Wang’s T collection autumn campaign.
The mainly-monochromatic promo video, directed by Daniel Jackson, features Azaelia, who is best known for her oh-so raunchy-of-lyric single 212, singing “Van Vogue” from her recent EP 1991. Styled by Alastair McKimm, she dances energetically, flaunting an enviably flat stomach and toned bod, in a range of uber-cool crop tops and bralets, sporty sheer-pannelled jackets, shorts and skinnies, that we can’t wait to get our hands on.
It’s not the first time that Banks and Wang have hooked up, as the sexually-explicit rapper accompanied the Wang to this year’s Met Gala, as well as providing the backing music to his Spring 2012 campaign with model Liya Kebede.
The New York designer told Style.com,
“She exudes a certain rawness that makes her a very unique talent,” Wang says. “I loved working with her on this video for T Fall 2012, and think the collaboration captures a collision of energies.”
And there’s no doubt that when it comes to energy, Banks has it in bucketloads.
