I have passed the Hourglass counter in Liberty`s and Barney`s many times; I like the name. Hourglass sounds vintage and chic.
I have heard good things about it but never actually tried it until I was recently seduced by their Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette in Obscura (£56.00).
I am a fool for eye palettes; I like colours that are already teamed together. And what I liked about this palette was the way they appeared, all in one unit. The colour swirls merging and blending into one another. I loved the creamy consistency. I liked the super matte and the slightly silky. And I liked the intense pigment. I pondered and pondered – did I want the olive colour swirl or the earth tones? I really wanted both.
I went for the earth tones, the Obscura shade, because I felt they were colours I missed more in my life. I loved the way base, crease, eyeliner are all in one pallet. And each shade and finish work so cleverly with another. I loved getting 5 shades in one set. I loved the fact it is not powdery or flaky . I love the creamy texture. And that sometimes you can apply it wet for a more dramatic look.
It travels with me and it is so easy to touch up. My biggest regret is that I did not get the olive colour tones as well as now it is sold out. And so it should be, it is effortless and long lasting and everything you want from an eye pallet.
