When your hair’s lacking a little lustre and needs something a little stronger than the latest shine shampoo to bring it back to life, try out the latest offering from Wella, the Illumina Glossing Service. It works like a sheer dye – don’t get scared – you can opt to match your colour so that your natural hair tone is enhanced and packed with shine, or you can go for a different colour, all decided as part of your consultation, which will come through subtly as a tint.
It’s all part of the new Wella Colour Couture service menu, recently introduced by Wella Professionals, to help you choose the best styles and shades of colour for your hair type, skin tone, face shape, lifestyle, you name it. The Wella guys and gals at each salon are prepped and primed to take you through it all.
We sent Colette Gilbert along to Hob Salon to give it a go. Her stylist and colourist both decided the ‘Natural and Sophisticated’ option was the one to opt for – for personalized, luxurious colour that illuminates natural beauty.
Here’s what Colette said…
‘I spoke to Jess the colourist and told her I wanted a colour not too far away from my own natural colour and wanted to try to cover my ever increasing grey hairs. The look also had to be low maintenance in terms of how often I was going to return to upkeep the colour. She suggested the Wella Glossing Service. This gives a very natural cover/colour and worms to enhance and embolden your natural colour. The service doesn’t 100% cover the grey but will tone it down. The colour lasts for around 20 washes, though that depends how often you wash your hair. It left my hair super shiny and a really lovely chestnut brown, and I was satisfied that my grey was covered.
When Billy, my stylist, asked me what look I was after, I explained I was keen for something low-maintenance as I rarely blow-dry my hair, I’m a wash and go type person. He suggested cutting a layer into the ends to give it some volume and to give it a good shape without having to blow-dry. I’m very pleased with the result, I’ve got a good shape and it’s very easy to manage.’
