Our Stephanie Hind visited Soho’s Purple Salon and tried a Brazilian Keratin Treatment, which uses keratin proteins and heat to repair hair right down to the cuticle, making for strong and glossy hair that lasts for months. Read her review of this damage-erasing treatment below!
Every since I can remember my hair has been unmanageably curly, and keeping it long was the only way I could keep the curls at bay!
After struggling with it every day I decided enough was enough and something had to be done, so a few weeks ago I headed down to the Purple Salon in Soho for a Brazilian Blow dry and boy was it worth it.
I was met buy my hair dresser, Carl, who was so welcoming and sat me down to talk me throughout the entire process before starting. I felt instantly at ease and even agreed to let him cut my hair to sit just below my shoulders and baring in mind my hair reached my hips this was a BIG decision.
After washing and cutting my hair Carl rough dried my it (at this point it was still frizzy and curly) and then he began to apply the Brazilian Keratin Treatment, it uses a combination of Keratin protein and preservative formaldehyde, which was applied to the hair much like a full head colour, making sure to cover every strand. The cream was then left on the hair for around 20 minutes and was again rough dried without washing out the treatment.
Once dried, the hair was separated into tiny sections and heat was applied with straighteners until all of the hair was completely straight, as the heat sealed in the treatment. It was then washed with non-sulphur shampoo and a condition treatment applied, before a final rough dry. To my surprise this was all my hair needed to be frizz free, glossy and straight I couldn’t have been happier, and even after washing at home (with non-sulphur shampoo) my hair is still straight, no longer will I spend hours drying and styling my hair. Hurrah!
If you are battling the frizz then I couldn’t recommend this treatment enough. Best of all, it lasts up to 5 months.
