June 14th (so this Saturday) is World Gin Day, returning for a sixth consecutive year to put some fizz back into your gin drinking. Londoners have drunk gin for centuries and it’s a drink long associated with the underground and debauched – just think Hogarth’s masterpiece The Gin Drinkers and the rise of the Gin Palace.
Gin is fast overtaking vodka as the mixologists’ spirit of choice for cocktails the length and breadth of the UK and Tanqueray (who have been making gin for over 160 years so know what they are doing) are helping to bring the history of gin alive through limited edition cocktails in a selection of London bars. Check out the four new Tanqueray cocktails created specially by Tristan Stephenson (co-owner of Worship Street Whistling Shop, London), Barrie Wilson (Tanqueray global ambassador), Tim Homewood (Tanqueray GB Ambassador) and Dren Lala (head bartender of The Lucky Pig, London).
The cocktails will all make an appearance at Worship Street Whistling Shop (hosting the Ishikari Fizz), The Lucky Pig (for a roaring twenties Bee’s Knees’ Cocktail), and the City of London Distillery Gin Monkey Gin Day Jazz Party where you can try the Flash of Lightening cocktail.

Ingredients:
50ml Tanqueray London Dry Gin
10ml Maraschino
15ml Antica Formula
25ml Orange Juice
2 dash Peychaud’s Bitters
Method:
Add all ingredients to a shaker with cubed ice, shake and double strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with a cherry on a cocktail stick.
