Whit Stillman returns after 14 years to direct this lighthearted comedy. Set at an East Coast university, Damsels in Distress stars a trio of girls hoping to rescue their campus from its grungy, depressed tendencies.
Violet (Greta Gerwig), the group leader, Rose, and Heather make up this tight knit group, which expands when transfer student Lily (Analeigh Tipton) joins the cause.
The warmhearted film follows these four women in their attempts to rescue the depressed through methods like aromatherapy and tap dance. Throughout their endeavors, the girls dabble in a string of romances, threatening their friendship along the way.
Star cameos include Aubrey Plaza (of Parks & Recreation) as “Depressed Debbie” and Adam Brody as heartthrob, Charlie.
