The city that never sleeps, the “Big Apple” or one of the biggest cities in the world…New York City. Oh, New York where the lights never turn off and the party never ends. It’s a guarantee you’ll find something fun for everyone, it’s a city everyone should have the ability to experience once during their lifetime.
Besides some of the largest sky scrapers including the Empire State Building or even the Statue of Liberty there are hotspots tourists are not aware of – and this is where I come in. I have put together THE places that are definitely worth checking out if you ever find yourself in this concrete jungle. FYI – don’t be afraid to journey down into the subway to get around… it’s basically like the tube.
Okay – sorry in advance (I’m not really) as these places are mostly food – between China Town, Little Italy and the classic American food you simply can’t miss out on!
2 bros pizza
A “Slice” or better known as a piece of pizza. Many tourists find themselves spends the majority of their trip in Times Square. So when they’re hungry and want to keep up with the hustle and bustle around them I recommend stopping at 2 Bros Pizza located right in Times Square. Their mouth watering flavours will just leave you wanting more.
Because where is a better place to get New York styled pizza then well… New York?
The Bagel Store
I promise you this – you will never experience a bagel as good as the ones in New York City. The Bagel Store offers bagels like you have never seen them before. Offering a range of rainbow… yes rainbow, bagels along with the classic plain. If you aren’t feeling up to the adventure of tasting the rainbow I recommend trying an egg flavoured one. Oh! And don’t forget to try the sweet frosting filled cream cheese.
Sabrett Hot Dogs
Now, tourists might have heard to stay away from the food carts, especially the ones that sell hot dogs. I say go for it! The concept of buying a hot dog off of the street might seem a little scary at first, but it’s something every tourist has to experience. My recommendation is to stick to a Sabrett Hot Dog Cart, you’ll be able to find them on almost every street.
The Sugar Factory
If any tourists have a sweet tooth and are looking to sit down for a little The Sugar Factory is the place to go. There are smoking drinks (literally smoking) that will allow for the perfect Instagram posts. The Sugar Factory will satisfy any sweet and salty craving by offering enormous lollipops to even a milkshake topped with a hamburger.
Yankee Stadium
Besides food, if tourists are really looking to be a part of the New York culture it is time to say goodbye to that Yankee hat you bought from Topshop. There will be plenty of opportunities to stock up on your Yankee gear but if you want the authentic hats then take a trip to Yankee Stadium.
New York City has endless places to go, eat and see but here are some final tips for anyone looking to visit:
– Don’t feel like you need to be in a hurry, everyone else just is (but any central Londoners will know what that’s like).
– There’s no point of waiting for a light to change red… cross the road, but do so quickly.
– Go to Time’s Square but don’t take pictures with the characters… they just want money.
– If someone offers you a “mix tape” don’t take it… just don’t.
– If you want to visit NY in the winter make sure it’s not near New Year’s… that’s when it’s most crowded and kind of gross.
– Always tip your waiters guys!
