FASHION SPOTLIGHT: DENIM

July 18, 2016

By Elizabeth Ponce

We have loved denim for the last 100 years and we will probably love it for 100 more. A durable and versatile fabric, denim will always be one of our closet essentials that we would be lost without. We’ve rounded up an edit of our top denim bottoms that you can pair with whatever you like.

Embroidered Jeans

MOTO Floral Embroidered Mom Jeans (£58), RE/DONE Patch Detail Straight High-rise Jeans (£270), Bliss & Mischief Eyelet Embroidered Jeans (£310), ZARA Embroidered Jeans (£9.99)

Embroidery is a trend we are absolutely loving this year. We love this detailing whether it’s on a jacket, a skirt or our favourite trousers. The embroidered designs and patches are the perfect way to spice up your garments. If you’re bored of your plain blue jeans, embroidered ones will give you the fabulous flare you’re looking for.

Boyfriend Jeans

BOSS Orange J70 Boyfriend Jeans (£89), TopShop MOTO Washed Black Lucas Jeans (£42), River Island Authentic Mom Jeans (£40), Diesel Fayza Low Waist Relaxed Boyfriend Jean (£160)

Some people might think of jeans as uncomfortable because they’re more tight and constricting. Those people clearly haven’t discovered  boyfriend jeans. Loose and slouchy, this fit is perfect for the days you want to feel like you’re in sweatpants and even the days you want to look like you’re walking down a runway. A good pair of jeans are like a best friend – they’ll never let you down. You can dress them up with heels, dress them down with sneakers and wear them any way you want until they rip at the seams.

Distressed Denim

Liquor & Poker Slim Mom Jeans with Sequin Trim (£38), J Brand Alana Skinny High Rise Jeans (£200), BDG Ripped Mom Jeans (£60), Bellatula Crop Flare Jeans (£246.62)

On that note – distressed denim is also super popular at the moment. For a laid back look, go for a pair of ripped jeans or frayed bottoms. This casual style is what all the cool kids are wearing, so obviously we’re all over it.

White Jeans

J Brand Cropped Skinny Jeans (£165), MOTO White Cropped Wide Jeans (£40), Hobbs Dickenson Jean White (£59), Gap Summer Flare Jeans (£29.99)

It’s summertime so there’s no better time to break out your white jeans. Something about pulling on a pair of white trousers makes you feel fresh and sparkly and brand new. We like these so much, we might just wear them after labour day.

Denim Skirts

RAG & BONE Siggy Denim Skirt (£250), ASOS High Waisted Mini Skirt (£25), Hobbs Denim Cicely Skirt (£79) , MOTO Stripe A-Line Skirt (£15)

Denim skirts have been making a major come back. In the early 2000’s, denim skirts were all the rage, but sadly they went into hiding for a few years. Thankfully, they’re back and better than ever – so get those legs out with confidence.

Skinny Jeans

Gap True Skinny Ankle Jeans (£49.95), ZARA High Elasticity Jeggings (£19.99), BDG Breeze Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans (£45), J BRAND Houlihan Military Skinny Jeans (£215)

We’ve been loving skinny jeans for quite a while now. They tuck perfectly into our favourite boots and they can show off our cutest sandals. This classic fit is one we’ll always be going back to and will forever keep in our hearts and our closets.
