Summer, whether your one of the ones that likes it or not, equals more skin on show. Scary. But luckily for us beauty nuts, there are a whole load of products out there that make the process more bearable. And we’ve spotted a little trend. Gold! The beauty shelves are filling up with products all able to give us an added glow, a little shimmer, and an infusion of sparkle. Here are our favourites.
This Works (a firm favourite of Beauty And The Dirt) have done it again with their brand new This Works Skin Deep Golden Elixir (£45.00). It’s packed to bursting with natural skin enhancers, including real gold to stimulate collagen production, clary sage to regenerate, rose and patchouli – powerful antioxidants – aloe vera and cammomile to soothe and calm, and Vitamin A rich Jojoba Oil. It smells pretty darned wonderful too!
For a bit more of a sparkle than a sheen, opt for Michael Kors Liquid Shimmer Dry Oil Spray (£40.00). The dry oil nature of the product nourishes skin t the max, and the slightly larger gold particles really give a skin finish with impact. It’s perfect for applying to skin after a sun-soaked day on holiday, after showering away the sun lotion and heading out for a dusky evening meal al fresco. Bliss.
This all natural brand has added to their range with Nourish Golden Glow Toning Body Shimmer (£25.00). It’s 77% organic, but doesn’t sacrifice any glamour. The look of this body cream is more of a sheen than a glimmer, and apply sparingly because it does back a bit of a golden punch. Our top tip? Blend across outer cheekbones, collarbones and shin bones as an all-over highlighter.
When it comes to fake tan, gold is good, orange is bad. Well obviously. So opting for an at-home tanner that boasts golden colour as opposed to bronze (which veers a little too close to orange for our liking) makes the whole process a little more reassuring. Fake Bake Gold Self Tanning Lotion (£30.75) is credited with giving one of the most natural looking tans you can imagine, and the added bonus? It’s injected with antioxidants to fight premature aging all at the same time. Wonderful!
Madara Deco Body Flower Dust Shimmering Moisturising Lotion (£19.00) is the one to opt for when subtlety is top on your list of beauty priorities! Smooth over skin to nourish it with its key ingredient, Northern Rose Hip, and add a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it sort of shine that hints at dewiness and radiance.
