Whether it’s the cold during winter or the heat in summer, our lips always seem to suffer. So we’ve put together a list of our absolute favourite lip saviours. The ones that actually moisturise and protect, as opposed to glossing and smothering. Get ready, make notes, here we go.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil (£18.00). Leaves lips shiny, but not sticky, and is infused with plant oils to nourish lips without drying. It’s inspired by the brand’s already successful bath and body oils range.

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm (£2.99), they’re one of our ultimate favourites. The cheap and super cheerful choice. And they don’t skimp on effect. They give 8 hour hydration as well as SPF20.

Creme de la Mer Lip Balm (£42.00). Yes it’s pricey, but it’s a Beauty Editor’s handbag staple, it’s been tried and tested and all those fans can’t be wrong. For ultimate pout indulgence, it’s worth the spend.

Yes To Carrots Lip Butter (£3.00). Another cheap and cheerful one for you, and it’s an award winning organic gem to boot. It feels fab on lips, comes in a range of mouth-watering flavours, and is eco friendly to boot. With every purchase a proportion of funds is donated to the Yes To Carrots Seed Fund.

Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturiser (£10.00). This brand, favoured by five star hotels across the globe, has come up with a pretty nifty little lip saviour. It’s a hydrating gel that heals already chapped lips and moisturises them at the same time. It’s pretty unisex looking and a fashionable brand, so it’s man-friendly too.

Clarins Extra-Firming Lip and Contour Balm (£31.00) uses raspberry seed oil and nourishing shea butter to repair and soften chapped lips. It also tackles fine lines around the lips to smooth and contour them, so lips look noticeably plumper and full. Pretty much the fairy godmother of lip balms then!

By Terry Baume de Rose (£39.00) is a cult favourite. It smells gorgeous, feels even better on, and even has an SPF 15. Try it once, and you won’t go back.

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm (£3.00) harnesses the hydrating powers of beeswax and pairs it with coconut, sunflower and peppermint oils. We love it. And it gives you that pleasant little tingling sensation once it’s applied.

Aveda Lip Saver (£12.00) hydrates with cinnamon leaf, clove and anise oils and uses their anti-oxidant-rich natural waxes to seal in the moisture.

Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream (£10.00) is a vitamin E rich lightweight lip cream formulated from delicate and sensitive skin, which is free from silicone and paraffin. And it looks pretty cool too.
