There’s been a new addition to the retail elite that occupy the streets of Mayfair. Although that’s no real surprise is it. Designer names seem to be flocking to this hub of fashion, Celine, Louboutin and Moynat have joined the crowd, Christopher Kane and Roksanda Ilincic are on their way, and Victoria Beckham’s flagship store will grace Dover Street from Autumn this year.
Today it’s all about Fendi, which has opened the doors on New Bond Street. It’s incredibly what thought goes into the design of a shop. When once all one might have cared about was where the till might sit, and which wall could house the most shelves, now it’s all about commissioning architects, artists and designers to create the most aesthetically pleasing space possible.

The new Fendi store is no exception. The interior walls are comprised of classical culture design, steeped in Italian history and nostalgia. The ground floor houses an installation of clocks called A Million Times 72 by design studio Humans Since 1982.
When asked why Fendi chose London, chairman and CEO of Fendi, Pietro Beccari said ‘The culture of this city is deeply rooted in both respect for traditional craftsmanship, as well as passion for creativity and innovation, particularly in the design field’.
