At this stage we shouldn’t really be shocked by anything that Lady Gaga turns her pointy-taloned hand to. And yet, somehow the campaign shots for the singer’s first fragrance, Fame, as shot by Steven Klein prove that, as always, the singer knows exactly how to get a reaction. Somewhat reminiscent of YSL’s Opium ads, featuring a nude, suggestively positioned Sophie Dahl, except in the Fame ads a blindfolded Lady Gaga has a whole host of miniature, buff little men clambering over her naked body.
Along with the first look at her campaign images, the singer tweeted;
“I won’t lie I’m a bit nervous. its been a while since I’ve shared some work with you. But I’m so proud of Steven+I, we really did not sleep!”
Where the YSL Opium ad finds itself at number 8 of the most complained about adverts of all time, we’re wondering where Gaga and her quite-clearly-on-display nipple will find themselves.
Whatever the public’s reaction to the campaign imagery, one thing’s for sure, both Klein and Gaga have managed to perfectly conjure up the feel of the fragrance, particularly in light of its blood-sperm connotations.
