Our rainy Thursday was completely made when we received a very special delivery from Flavourtown Bakery.
Flavourtown Bakery’s mission is to make the best cakes in London.. and we can’t doubt that now we’ve gotten to try them for ourselves. They set about doing this firstly by using the very best of ingredients and don’t hold back when it comes to sourcing top quality food to make their cakes with. Attention to detail is something they definitely don’t lack in – just take a look at their Gallery and you’ll see their innovative and perfectly created, not to mention stunning, cakes. They have vanquished the ‘boring, tired old cakes’ and bought cake-making to the 21st century..
Their menu consists of over 25 flavours of cupcakes, over 12 variations of whoopie pies, alongside, cookies, brownies and specially commissioned cakes too. Flavourtown offer services for creating corporate logo branded cupcakes, gifting boxes, events or even your wedding day – all you need to do is contact them and tell them what you’re after.
You’ll catch Flavourtown Bakery every Sunday at Old Spitalfields Market, go and visit their stall and taste their delicious creations. You can even nab yourself a free, yes free, treat too. Now here is how you do it… all you have to do is like their Facebook page, keep a watch on your news feed every Friday to find out what they announce as the secret flavour, and then on that Sunday you go to their stall at Old Spitalfields market and ask for the secret flavor by name. Best get there quick though as they only create a dozen to give away each week!
Yesterday our delicious treats arrived in pink boxes with see through tops – and we literally gasped as we caught a glimpse of the perfectly formed cupcakes and brownies before our eyes. It was about 11am but we couldn’t wait till afternoon – any form of diet went out of the window and we feasted on a little brownie brunch and first tucked into the Salted Caramel Brownies and they were to DIE for. That’s when we knew the rest of it was going to be just as good…
Here’s what we had in our cupcake box and all the yummy details to get your mouth watering:
Chocolate Salted Caramel – A moist valrhona chocolate cupcake with a secret home-made salted caramel middle, topped with salted caramel infused frosting with a little drizzle of caramel on top.
Red Velvet – A Moist sponge with a hint of the world’s best cocoa, with two secret ingredients and finished with their signature smooth cream cheese frosting. Topped lovingly with a red love heart.
Badass Brownie – A valrhona chocolate fudge brownie cupcake swirled with their secret recipe cheesecake and frosted with a marbles creamcheese frosting.
Posh Peanut Butter – The best peanut butter cupcake you’ve ever tastes with Skippy peanut butter packed with Callebaut chocolate chops and fristed with Peanut butter mousse which is dipped in Belgian chocolate and topped with a luxury gold finish.
The special brownies we also were treated with were their award-winning Human Catnip brownies – which were dense, rich brownie topped with salted caramel with a layer of golden chocolate. The office was full of ‘mmm’ing and ‘ahhh’ing from these bad boys. I’d say they were probably the most delicious brownies I’ve tasted. Honestly.
