The Hollywood Reporter announced that Gerard Butler will return to the Olympus Has Fallen series in its third film Angel Has Fallen, which aims to begin production in early 2017. Butler will once again star as Mike Banning, a secret service agent who (in the first two films) had to protect the President of the United States from kidnapping and assasination threats. Unlike the first two films, however, this time Banning is the target.
Butler joins producers Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, John Thompson and Matt O’Toole, and creator of the franchise Katrin Benedikt will write the script. A director has yet to be named. We can’t wait to see Butler in the third film after the first two brought in nearly $300 million globally.
