James McAvoy stars in SPLIT – the story of a man with 23 different personalities.
Following The Purge and the Insidious series, producer Jason Blum joins director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs) in their return with SPLIT: a thriller delving into the mysterious recesses of one man’s fractured, gifted mind.
The film takes a close look at the mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder). The mental disorder had for a long time fascinated science and it is believed that some can also manifest unique physical attributes for each personality, a cognitive and physiological prism within a single being.
The trailer opens up with a parent picking up three girls from school and in the split second they look away, a stranger hops into the front seat of the car. There’s instant panic as the man pulls out and sprays something into their faces. Confused and disoriented, the girls wake up in a room and it soon becomes apparent that they have been abducted.
Their abductor, Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialise and dominate all the others.
