The phrase summer feet always fills me with horror. Not that my toes are particularly ugly, I just hate the pedicure process. And as result I have claw like toes!
I can’t stand people touching my feet. I’m so ticklish they jump at my squeals, sometimes with sharp things in their hands. I’ve long ago forbidden the scrub within a pedicure and then I hate to sit still while it’s drying and invariably have brought the wrong footwear and complain because the paint messes up once inside a boot.
Sometimes they give me flip flops so their handiwork is not tampered with. I see these random flip flops under beds, in bathrooms, in living rooms by sofas, sometimes I get a black bag and put them all in it and away they go. But yes, it’s summer feet time.
I hate touching my own feet so while I’m living in dread with a two month old red lacquer toe, Green People’s Sugar Scrub arrives. It’s the kind of sugar scrub that smells of lemonade, homemade, perhaps even a vodka shot with limes in it and it’s a beautiful cocktail of butter and sugar.
This I don’t mind massaging into my feet, watching how the sugar becomes soft and buttery and how the feet look polished, the skin tone brightened and they feel as if they are in velvet shoes. Green People always use organic ingredients where possible. The crystals are made from pure cane sugar, the butter is Fairly Traded Shea with organic rosehip and cranberry. It seems to soften the skin and cushion it as it exfoliates. The cranberry oil has Omega 3’s and 6’s and Rosehip has anti ageing properties so it’s like you’re massaging youth into your skin as well as softness. It does seem to give you that kind of second skin glow and the smell is intoxicatingly good.
The smell – the softness – the sense of renewal – is worth it – and for people who are not scared of feet it is pure pleasure. For people who want to be less scared of feet and the their crustiness it is a must!
