James Corden hosted Sunday night’s Grammy Awards in New York City. It was an exciting night full of all sorts of performances and, of course, awards.
Before the show started, stars walked the red carpet with white roses as a show of support for the #MeToo movement. During the show, there were performances by Kesha and a choir of female singers including Camila Cabello, Cyndi Lauper, and Andra Day. Elton John performed his classic, Tiny Dancer, with Miley Cyrus. Kendrick Lamar opened the show with U2 and Dave Chappelle. Bruno Mars and Cardi B teamed up to perform Finesse, their new duet, and the highly awaited performance did not disappoint. Hillary Clinton even made a controversial cameo during the show.
Bruno Mars was the night’s big winner with his album 24K Magic bringing home Album, Record, and Best R&B Album of the year awards. That’s What I Like brought home Song of the Year and best R&B Song.
Ed Sheeran brought home Pop Album of the Year and Pop Solo Performance for ÷ and Shape of You, while Kendrick Lamar won Best Rap Performance, Rap Song, Rap Album, and Music Video for his hit HUMBLE and album Damn.
The Best Pop Duo/Group performance was won by Portugal the Man for their hit, Feel it Still.
Alessia Cara was the only female to bring home a major award (Best New Artist), and just one-fifth of the awards were won by women.
Although Jay-Z was nominated for 8 awards, he went home empty-handed.
