Hedi Slimane Rebrands Yves Saint Laurent

June 21, 2012

Hedi Slimane

Having taken over from Stefano Pilati as Yves Saint Laurent’s creative director earlier this year, Heidi Slimane – previously at Dior, is already making his mark on the brand. And it’s rather a drastic one too.

As part of his makeover for the fashion house, Slimane is changing what we currently know, and love, as Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris. Whilst the new name will be introduced slowly over the next few months, the rebrand will be wholly in place in time for Slimane’s official catwalk debut which will be the  spring/ summer 2013 collection.

According to WWD, Hedi Slimane is set to give the brand a thoroughly modern revamp, while still capturing the elements of youth, freedom and modernity that inspired the Yves Saint Laurent’s Saint Laurent Rive Gauche ready-to-wear line back in 1994.

If you were starting to wonder  – and worry – how on earth the newly branded SLP would ever compare to the iconic YSL initials, do not fear, as the YSL logo is set to remain as a trademark of the fashion house – specifically on their accessories line of bags and shoes as well as their beauty products.
