Yesterday, rumours abounded that the latest collaboration for high street chain H&M is with the French fashion house MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA, and this morning we are delighted to say that it has officially been confirmed!
“MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades,” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M says. “I am so excited by this collaboration, which will give fashion lovers around the world a chance to wear special pieces by MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA. This collaboration will be a great and memorable fashion moment.”
We could not agree more!
The epitome of avant-garde fashion, MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA is a French fashion house that has always followed its own path and we love how they more often than not stay outside of the conventional fashion framework!
The crew at MMM also commented on this exciting and fresh collaboration: “We are very happy to present MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA pieces with H&M, offering a new interpretation of our vision. The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise us all.” MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA.
Although some fashion critics are a little concerned at the collaboration – and see it as yet another watering down of a high-fashion house, we’re rather excited to see what MMM comes up with. We’re intrigued to see how it stays true to its avant-garde roots whilst remaining accessible, quirky and fun.
The collection for both women and men launches on 15th November 2012 at stores worldwide and online.
Is this a genius collaboration or not? What would you like to see from Margiela for H&M? We’d love to know your thoughts.
Here’s a little teaser:
