H&M TO RELEASE COMMEMORATIVE BOOK

October 23, 2014

fs-h-mH&M’s The First Ten Years

“I never expected it to make such a splash,” Karl Lagerfeld says of his collaboration with H&M that happened a little over a decade ago.  Since then, every girl’s go-to stylish yet affordable retailer has been regularly working with high fashion designers to create collections for women on a budget everywhere who dream of wearing designer clothing (including myself).  To celebrate ten years of collaborations, along with holding a retrospective exhibition at their 5th Avenue flagship store in NYC, H&M is releasing The First Ten Years, a commemorative book containing never before seen photos and passages courtesy of every single participating designer of the last decade.  Contributors include Donatella Versace, Alber Elbaz, Roberto Cavalli, and Karl Lagerfeld just to name a few.  “Inexpensive is not ‘cheap’ anymore,” Mr. Lagerfeld muses in the book, “That’s why the luxury industry has to make an even bigger effort. I think all that is very healthy.”

The book will be available at around 250 stores to coincide with Alexander Wang’s holiday collection out November 6, and will cost around £7.80.  The best part is that 25% of proceeds will be going to UNICEF.
