Little by little, Carine Roitfeld has been unearthing snippets of information about her new magazine but the most safely guarded part, the title, has been under our noses for longer than we realise. Entitled simply ‘CR’, in light of the handwritten initials that have been appearing beneath her French Vogue editor’s letters on a monthly basis ever since Carine became editrix. The initialled title of the magazine is just the start of a series of personal touches from Roitfeld, which is set to include handwritten section titles as well as initials places at the top of pages.
In an interview with WWD Carine exclaimed, “The name’s not a big surprise, but oh well.”
Founder of Fashion Media, the group behind CR whose other titles include Visionaire, V and VMan, Stephen Gan said,
“Carine Roitfeld is one of the most talented editors in our industry. She deserves an editorial platform with which to express herself, and I’m happy to provide one. I hope it will enlighten. I hope it will build bridges not walls. The fashion magazine industry has gotten too political.”
The first issue of CR is believed to be a 288-page issue with approximately 100 pages of advertising, and will be priced at $9.95. With an initial print run of 50,000 half of the distribution will be in Europe with the remaining in Asia and the U.S.
