We love a bit of Jenny from the Block. She has truly a career like no other, from dancing, to acting, to singing, to judging American Idol, to being a mother of two, the most impressive piece of Jennifer Lopez‘s resume is definitely longevity. In her cover for the May issue of W Magazine entitled The Staying Power of Jennifer Lopez, the star discusses how her career has lasted so long. “It’s hard for me not to imagine doing everything I am asked to do. Even if I hear a song that someone else has done or watch a film that someone else is in, I think, Oh, I would do it like this. Or, I wish I could do it like that. Luckily, I love to work.” It’s precisely this motivation that has pushed her through role after role, both on and off the screen.
As for the looks of this shoot, Jennifer is undoubtedly seductive, not in the early 2000’s JLo booty popping style, but in a sultry and sophisticated way that could only be pulled off with time. Speaking of big booty celebs, JLo also talks about her impression on the infamous big booty family, the Kardashians. When asked by Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live if the Kardashians “stole her jam” of having a great backside she replied, “I think I paved the way for the Kardashians. Just another innovation that I’ve given to the world!”

Described as “glamorous and endlessly industrious”, Jen shows us just how glam she can be in gorgeous gowns, the one on the left giving us serious Maid In Manhattan throwbacks but with a modern twist, all we need is Ray Fiennes to step out of the wings and we have a sequel. Unfortunately, Jennifer had to deal with the not so glamorous side to fame, having no privacy. She talks to W about dealing with the paparazzi, telling the magazine that they haven’t left her alone since her breakout role in Selena, a film which was released almost 20 years ago.

“I’ve been in the grind and the game for a long time. At a certain point, people respect you when they see you fall down and get back up.” Jennifer said about her personal life, which has been in the public eye almost from the start, where we have seen plenty of rises and falls. Still, Jen remains hopeful, stating that she still dreams of growing old with someone, The Notebook style. This just leads us to ponder if choreographer and actor, of which she’s been dating off and on since 2011, is that man?
Jen also talks about how American Idol has allowed fans to see the real her, and how she’s taken that platform to show that she is, in fact a powerful woman. “People may now think I’m ‘nice,’ but they still act surprised when I’m smart. It’s a man’s world, and, truly, people in a business setting do not value a woman as much as a man. I feel like I’m constantly having to prove myself. If a man does one thing well, people immediately say he’s a genius. Women have to do something remarkable over and over and over. And, even then, they get questions about their love life.” Preach, JLo.
