After shutting down his own fashion company at the end of 2015, Jonathan Saunders is now taking on a new position for Diane Von Furstenberg as the chief creative director. Saunders addition will help founder Furstenberg continue to find a younger demographic in her company. With his decision to join Furstenberg, he has taken his name away from the rumours that he would replace Raf Simons at Dior.
Saunders has been well received on runways and red carpets, he is especially noted for his skillful use of colours and patterns, and Diane said herself that she “could not have found a cooler, more intelligent designer” and that he will “shine” as the chief creative officer. He will also be collaborating with and reporting to chief executive Paolo Riva.
The London based designer is to now relocate to New York, where he and Diane will continue to create pieces for women that “make them feel good about themselves.” Regarding the company’s future, Saunders commented that he is “thrilled to be part of its next chapter.”
