Ever seen a pair of shoes in a magazine, or a sweater worn by a friend, and felt a twinge of jealousy that the piece wasn’t yours? Never fear, that case of style envy can now be remedied with just a few simple taps of your smartphone screen, thanks to Kate Bosworth. The actress has teamed up with the co-owner of retail chain American Rag Cie and the former president of Gemstar-TV Guide Interactive to launch Style Thief, a fashion app that allows users to snap a picture of the piece they’re lusting after and buy it in just a few clicks.
After snapping a photo of the item they’re interested in, users can peruse the image search results, sort them by best matches or price, and buy the piece from one of over 300 retailers including Topshop, Forever 21, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Bosworth hopes the app’s ‘snap and steal’ philosophy will help consumers capture the looks that catch their eye – whether they be on the street on or on the runway – and make them their own.
The free app is currently only available for iPhones, but an Android version is set to launch later this year. So next time you spot a look you love, don’t get envious – just grab your phone, and snap it up! Thanks very much Kate.
