American model and actress Kate Upton recently interviewed with Hello! Fashion Monthly and we wanted to share with you some highlights of her interview. Kate Upton has been photographed by the biggest names in fashion photography including Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz, and Steven Meisel – and of course, how could we forget her ‘cat daddy’ dance in Terri Richardson’s studio.
But, we love to embrace Kate’s sexy womanly curves, and here Kate shares with us her make up secrets and essentials, working with make up artist Bobbi Brown and staying in shape..

On make-up tricks while working with Bobbi Brown;
‘I definitely mix and match products a lot more now. I use cream blush on my lips and cheeks, and my highlighter is also my eye shadow. I really love the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick and the Smokey Eye Mascara, And Bobbi’s taught me how to apply her Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, which is fantastic. You’re supposed to pull your eye outwards while you do it – it gives a much cleaner line and it’s easy to use.’
On hand bag make-up essentials;
‘Whatever lip colour I’m wearing. Right now I’m loving Bobbi’s Blackberry shade – it’s like a wine colour, and I love red wine, so that goes hand in hand! And the concealer kit, too, which comes with a little pot of powder.’
On staying in shape;
‘I’m trying to do more yoga and pilates because I think it would be nice for me to be a little more zen. But I mix it up to make it interesting, too, so I do personal training sessions, resistance exercises using my own body weight and bands for strength and lengthening. I sometimes use hotel gyms when I’m travelling, but there’s not always time. I think people need to stop putting pressure on themselves. I’m happy to just walk round Hyde Park.’
On being body conscious;
‘Yes, Bobbi (Brown) said this yesterday and I totally agree with her. I think all women are similar; we all struggle with the same things when it comes to body image and wanting to be beautiful. I’m the same when I’m on the beach with my friends or when there are paparazzi around, but being on a fashion shoot is like an acting job. I feel like I’m a different character and that character doesn’t get pangs of anxiety.’
On skin prep for photoshoots;
‘It’s funny because I was nervous before my first shoot with Bobbi and my skin broke out. I’m crazy when it comes to pimples. I could see a stranger in the street and I’d want to pop their pimple. So I popped one just before I went on set. Bobbi was like, ‘What did you just do?’ I definitely don’t do that anymore! I usually just apply a nice hydrating sheet mask. I bought a ton of those green tea ones in Korea. They’re amazing.’
