Recently the BATD headquarters has been taken over with a few liquid bronzers – it is the summer season after all – and we absolutely can’t get enough of them.

What makes these products such a handy addition to your makeup bag is that these bronzers can be used alone for an all over bronze, mixed in with existing foundations as a colour changer, or simply patted under your cheeks for a soft contoured look. Powders can sometimes feel a little heavy in the heat, while gels and liquids offer a much lighter, glowier feel on the skin.

So, you’ve just come back from your exotic holidays, or you’ve caught some rays in London (well done you) then this is the perfect summertime swap. We have selected some of our faves, both with a pearly sheen and without:

 

PEARLY LIQUID BRONZERS

Who could resist some of this dazzling golden liquid? I need it all over my face. Right now. Try popping a few drops into your moisturiser for glowing up your collar bones and shoulders in that Bardot top of yours too.

NIOD

One of NIOD’s latest products to emerge out of the laboratory; is their much-loved Photography Fluid – in tan colours! I am a big fan of this product for its sheer luminosity and staying power too.

Speaking from experience, this liquid gold sets and stays put on my oily skin and I have also used this for a bride on her wedding day and to say her skin looked flawless and radiant was an understatement. It is designed to particularly look great in photos – so got an important event coming up? Make sure your skin is glowing with this stuff.

 

HYLAMIDE

Another clever invention to give a cinematic look in photographs as well as real life – the Hylamide Photography Foundation uses very very fine particles to create light confusion to reduce the look of visible lines and blur pores. Literally squeezes out like liquid gold, it’s very pretty just to look at. So glowy.

Slightly thicker in consistency so is a little more buildable, so you can even pop this on tops of your cheekbones for some serious poppin’ golden glow.

 

ESTEE LAUDER

Now, this addition to the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess summer collection does fall under the ‘highlight’ category but we thought this would make a lovely subtle all-over glow, for the lighter skin tones to add a touch of golden sheen without being too dark. Radiates lovely golden tones for slightly sun kissed skin.

 

MATTE LIQUID BRONZERS

So this isn’t to say these are matte in texture – they are more matte in colour, so they don’t give any particular pearlescent finish. These are perfect to add to an existing foundation or wear alone, for a touch of bronze.

BENEFIT

Benefit’s liquid bronzer gives your face a year-round glow without the gleam. It is a cooler, lighter shade for subtle, natural bronzing and has a lovely lightweight gel-like texture. If you’re not fond on too-warm red shades some bronzers can have, or if you’re lighter skin toned – you’ll enjoy the colour of this one. The smoothing effects and lightweight texture melts into the skin.

 

PERRICONE MD

Perricone MD are all into their ‘no makeup makeup’ and this super lightweight liquid leaves a veil of bronze over the skin. The universal shade suits most skin tones to mimic healthy skin colour with a warm sun-kissed glow. What’s more – this product is both a bronzer and skincare in one – as it works as a contouring serum to accentuate definition and also provides an SPF 30 to protect against sun damage on the skin. Nice!

NARS

NARS have created a liquid bronze of the iconic Laguna bronzing powder – for a really weightless and super versatile finish. It is creamy, liquidy and blends in effortlessly. It has a very subtle sheen effect to give a healthy radiance. The perfect shade for a cooler toned tan. This is wonderful patted under your cheek bones, and the perfect shade for anyone that likes to wear a bit of fake tan too as it isn’t too warm toned.

STILA

Probably the most liquidy-watery consistency out of the bronzing products – which is really quite lovely to smother over your face in the heat. It must be that Hyaluronic Acid – which is known to instantly hydrate the skin – and it really does. It provides anti-inflammatory benefits and feels refreshing and cooling, leaving a non-sticky and soft texture. Stila’s Aqua Glow works to deepen your foundation tone with a warm bronze without being too overpowering. Lovely!
