The SJP-shaped holes in our hearts are to be filled once HBO series Divorce hits our screens; Sarah Jessica Parker is back and bigger than ever.
Starring on the cover story of Marie Claire‘s September issue, SJP talks marriage, divorce and gender ideals in Hollywood. Her Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw was a symbol for the generation of single girls – but now the actress and producer takes on a whole new role in her new relationship drama.
Marie Claire talks to the actress on “The Art of Being SJP’ and discusses what it’s like having her new show being constantly compared to Sex and the City; “I love the way the pilot episode opens because everyone’s asking, “Oh, is this a spin-off of Sex and the City?” And the moment that the opening scene ends, and you see her give him the finger, you know it’s very different.”
SJP has strong beliefs in equality in the workplace, and Hollywood is no exception; and salutes the women who have spoken up about the issue; “Listen, Jennifer Lawrence deserves every bit as much as her male counterpart. It’s indisputable. Emma Watson is an amazing young woman, and it’s important for her to talk about women’s issues. She isn’t concerned about herself. Women are paying the bills, getting it done, getting the kids here and there. The more we address that, we are all going to be better.”
The Marie Claire September issue hits newsstands 16th August.
