Lorde has always put across rather an individual look. Her hair is a mass of unruly curls, nothing like the sleek bobs and beach waves of most young songstresses. Her skin is an iridescent pale, no fake tan for this one, and her lips? Well they’ve inspired a new collection by MAC Cosmetics.

The new collection features a deep, dark plum lipstick, that in the right light almost looks black. The shade is called Pure Heroine, and is paired with a slick black eyeliner in Rapidblack. Lorde wanted the lipstick to be able to be used as a stain or in a block colour application, as she would wear it herself. She’s keen to produce more lipsticks with the brand so it remains to be seen whether the small range will be extended.
We shall keep her fingers crossed. Lorde admits to being a bit of a control freak with her shows. She has input into the lighting, the staging, everything, she’s not a fan of delegating. So it comes as no surprise that she wasn’t just content to sit back and let her name be put to a collection that she barely recognised. A collaboration, however small, that really draws from the designer or artist’s tastes and preferences, is the truest sort of collaboration you can imagine, and we’re glad that Lorde has stepped up to the task.
The collection is due out next month.
